Example 1 - Lovely Bones...

Lovely Bones. . . Example 1

I chose this film as my first example because i think the film offers everything from different lighting and animation. I decided to take screen grabs of the movie that i thought were inspiring. I noticed a lot through out the movie that they are always reflecting on images and shots from the beginning the film.

First introduced to the murderer through a snap shot that  (susie salmon) took on her new camera, its as if she was making her evidence of her murder, but i find in this image there is still that eeriness about the image the rose is a strong vibrant colour to through you of that the mans face is covered, mysterious.

This screen grab is where Susie was murdered i chose to take a screen grab of this because i find the whole setting and the lighting of the scene is gloomy and dark which signifies that usually something bad is about to happen, i find that what susie is wearing in this is good because i think it makes her stand out as being just a normal school girl on her way home but it shows that where she is is not where she belongs and out of the ordinary.

I chose this screen shot because the camera angle and the close up to the mothers face really shows the raw emotion that she feels and i think that because the have kept the frame simply and empty it could almost be reflecting how she is feeling inside... empty.
These 4 screen shots are i find cleverly related to how we are told what death is like a bright light which starts in the 3 screen grabs and looks out of this world the images. I love the colours and film they used for this seen as i think it makes the audience think she is in a magical place and heavenly place.

In these two screen grabs i found the tree leaves were transformed into birds which were later seen in Susie's house as her wall paper and a wall decorator, this makes think back to the beginning of the movie and unfold a mystery that we try to almost solve a long the way

I chose this as one of my screen grabs because i feel as thought the lighting in the shot is setting the scene that it is dark, and eery and the feel of the fright in the dark makes us feel creapy about his mysterious blacked out face.

In this screen grab we are taken back to the camera shots Susie took where this picture seems obvious to us who the murderer might be as he is hiding behind a beautiful strong rose which makes him look almost invisible.

A lot of the background settings are included in susie salmons in between world, i noticed the birds on the wall are included in the tree leaves which are transformed into birds. What i also like from this screen grab is that the dad is smashing the boat in a bottle and at the same time there is another camera shot to susie and what she is seeing.
A Boat in a bottle was introduced to the film from the beginning, it was a hobby that susie and her dad enjoyed, this was then used later to show how frustrated the dad was he was ruining the happy memories which had been taken over by her murder.

This is what susie saw in her in between world which i have found is always unreal and magical, which is almost how they are trying to describe how she feels which is confusion and beyond belief.

I chose this screen grab because with the sister out of focus you can only see the eyes of the murderer which makes him look very mysterious and gloomy again, you almost see nervousness and frustration in his eyes, he may feel threatened that he might be getting found out as the sister spotted him in the car she might be suspecting something and if you can see that emotion just in his eyes this might be a sign that his emotion is just that clear.
I love this screen grab, the thing i like is the reflection because the in between world is really shown here, as she is not gone yet she is enough to move a candle flame but not the candle on the living side. it is almost a sign when the reflection flame goes out this makes the mode gloomy and a sign that there is no life left but she will always be there.
