We were asked to re-create an opening act from the film 'The book of Eli' we were given this task having not seen the actual film, this gave us a good idea to work from what was written down from a script and re-create, we did this in groups where we spread the roles of acting, filming and editing between us. This task was help full as it allowed us to explore the creative way from looking at a script.

Mundane Tasks

I made two mundane's because i wanted to see what different kind of camera shots i could include so it would help me when making my opening sequence.

Here is one which i made a girl make a cup of tea.

Survey

First I chose to interview a man in his 30's i did this so that i could start of at a age which can vary with opinions.

This feed back will help me on what i should include in my film opening sequence.

I chose to use and interview and a survey because i feel that i can work from these results for example with the question to 'Pat Smith' "what do you expect to see in a thriller" and that being special effects i have considered having effects in my opening sequence. I have also tried to aim both genders to be interested in my opening sequence i have done this by including dancing which female gender is going to enjoy to watch but also making it a thriller at the same time will approach the male gender.

Secondly i chose to interview a girl of a younger age to get a broad view and idea into what i should be including in my opening sequence to produce it to my best ability.

After effects...

Lord of the Rings was my first after effects use but it gave me a very good idea one the simple things i could do on after effects i found the program very good as in my clip i added a title and the reflected it in the water, i also found out the movement i could include in the texts which i included when on of the characters breathes and the steam from his mouth blows the title away.

I then chose to do the film perfume so i made the titles flow so that it looked floral and related to perfume, before i knew there were presets i could use, i made every individual letter move so that the joined at the end this was done on the title 'Tom Cruise' .

Sound track pro experiments...

 

Here are my Sound track Pro experiments, I liked doing this a lot because during i was able to learn how to use sound track pro which i now find quite easy to use. I made 3 examples because i enjoyed making them, and through out the films we were given a clip with no sound and no idea of what the movie was really about, this made it better because you could make the sound fit purely from just that clip. Here is a screen shot from my music for Panic Room i chose to add music and on top of the different tracks of music i chose to use sound effects i felt that this help to build the tension and give the audience a little bit of an idea what the movie might be about without giving away too much.

My second Sound Track pro experiment was seven in this i chose to add loads of different sound effects to make the film seem not normal and eery at the beginning of the clip i saw that there was a metronome which i found was interesting to work from so i chose the sound effect clock, and i noticed that the ticking was not in time so i cut each individual tick and watched the metronome to find out where to put the cut out ticking, i then worked from there to add to how dramatic it was i made every movement which was included in the clip to be asynchronous which added to the eeriness.

I chose to over lap loads of different sounds to make the impact of the objects more emphasised.

I then did a sound over for contact which i used loads of flowing sound effects added with music as i wanted to create the mood of everything being light as if no gravity like in space.

Equipment proficiency...

In this Time claps video taken of our class i decided to embed it into my youtube after adding music to it, in imovie.

Dancing research ballet

As i am including a lot of ballet in my final film opening sequence i thought i would do some research so that i have a better idea on what i need to film and direct dance wise.

Love how the sound effects have a relationship with all of the pictures. Really works well. Only thing is that the dialogue is small therefore quite hard to read

I think that the shots are very good and it will work very well with the drops. I really like the music However the titles are very small and hard to read and go very quickly

Very Nice sound effect work well together, continues shots work in time with the droplets with comes across nicely, very clear what the theme of the film is the sound is very well produced and adds a lot of effect to the film,

Good sound effects and clear detailed drawings. The titles need to be longer and clearer but other than that good animatic.

detailed descriptions of the description, very small and quick titles quite hard to see, very dramatic classical music when seeing the ballerina dancing, droning music changes to when danger floating in the water with the ballet shoe at the bottom.

Pictures were well drawn, music and the timing of shots were well synchronised. The music was very dramatic which suited the opening, made me feel like something sad was about to happen. All pictures were drawn very well and shading was good
